FALLOW is an independent design studio creating objects in wax, clay and scent from our studios in Battle, East Sussex.

Founded and creatively directed by Marsha Dupont Ellis, FALLOW began with a fascination for the familiar: the forms we recognise instinctively, the details we often overlook and the peculiar beauty found in nature, anatomy and the everyday. Through changes in material, scale and purpose, these references are reconsidered as objects with an unexpected presence.

Across FALLOW | candles, FALLOW | studies, FALLOW | ceramics and FALLOW | objects, each collection explores a different expression of the same world. Familiar forms are rendered in wax and made fleeting. Landscapes, memories and atmosphere become notes from the cultivated wild. Clay is shaped by nature, the body and what lies between. Uncommon objects are created for considered spaces.

A piece of fruit, a fragment of bone, a woodland specimen or an object from the table may each become a point of departure. We are drawn to irregularity, character and the subtle tension between beauty and unease, function and sculpture, permanence and disappearance.

Every collection is conceived and developed within our Battle studios. Materials are chosen carefully, details are considered closely and each piece retains something of the process through which it was made. We do not seek perfect repetition; variation gives an object its individuality and its quiet sense of life.

FALLOW brings these distinct practices together under one name and one point of view: objects that invite closer attention, alter the atmosphere of a space and make the familiar worth looking at again.
